Opinions anyone?  I really enjoyed all three stories.

Neil,

I really liked them as well, although I am more partial to the Blaylock.  While I liked the Powers only story, it was treading a little too close to actual theology for me to really enjoy it as much as the others.

The problem with writing a story dealing with Christian themes is that too often writers don't seem to have really researched the facts.  Having a Catholic Priest seeing ghosts and that challenging his disbelief and obvious lack of faith is a great idea - but according to the Bible, there ain't no such thing as ghosts.  The only real "ghost" in the bible was a vision sent by God in spite of the "witch" of Endor, note how surprised she was at the sight, and the Bible says there is no communication between the world and the dead.  Only by His supernatural act, did that vision appear.

Now, the other stories didn't bother me, because they weren't pretending to deal with actual Christian doctrine.

All in all, the book was well worth the wait and the price and I was very glad to add it to my collection.

I didn't mind that aspect at all.  But then several of my favorite books done much worse things to religion.  (Only Begotten Daughter)

Overall, I was fairly amused and entertained by the stories in this book.  At the end, I wished it was longer.  I zipped through this and IN FOR A PENNY in just a couple of days.

I agree - having waited for In For A Penny for over a year after I ordered it, I was hoping for more stories, but still the quality was excellent.  I only ordered Devils a couple weeks before it shipped, so the wait wasn't as tedius.  Every Blaylock leaves me wanting more!

I wasn't offended or anything and I liked the story, it just came in as less enjoyable than the other two stories.  Totally subjective "feeling" issue.
