Coffee Anyone?

Carried over from the old forum...

I'm still waiting for an update from Mike on how the experiments with his own version of "Captain Binkey's Blend" are going, but he hasn't posted in quite some time.  I'm beginning to wonder if the experiment has somehow gone hopelessly awry.  Or, perhaps it has been a complete success and he's sitting at his kitchen table sipping the contents of his favorite cup asking the sugar bowl if it's a fish...

Ahoy Mates!
It's Mike, and I'm doing just fine.  Ironically, when I read Mr. Pully's message, I had a cup of "Binky's" in my very hand.  For anyone not familiar with the old forum, I decided (over a year ago) to try and make a "Binky's Blend" coffee.  To find out what this means, I'm afraid you'll have to read "The Disappearing Dwarf" by JPB.

No hallucinations, delusions, or strange supernatural occurences yet.  I did not opt to use the river water, nor do I suggest its use for any of you who choose to attempt a similar experiment.  Mold is an issue, but only if you wait more that 2-3 day before brewing a new pot.  If mold occurs, I recommend starting a fresh pot.  Ideally, the pot would be constantly heated, but my coffee maker turns off after two hours, and I can't justify the purchase of a new machine just yet.  So my "Binky's Blend" is still somewhat half-hearted, but in the immortal words of Regis Philbin...

"I'm only one man."

That's all for now.

It was an admirable attempt, and someone had to do it.  Now be a good fellow and make me some raisin cheese Wink

Half-hearted or not, it warms my heart knowing there is someone out there who is mad enough to try.  Smiley

Madness?

Madness is reading the collective works of H.P. Lovecraft in the span of about 3 months...

Madness is eating poisonous fish in a Japanese restaurant because it's a "delicacy"...

Nay, madness is wearing your underwear on the outside of your pants...

I was merely expressing a healthy desire for a good cup of Joe.

After reading this ...

http://www.hayescoffee.com/coffee_process.html

I'm beginning to think that drinking coffee is more similar to eating blowfish than I had anticipated.

And since I have already read the collective works of H.P. Lovecraft in under 3 months...

The location of my underwear becomes an issue of tremendous importance.
