I just joined the Babbage Press Yahoo Group and found this in the archives:

From:  "Lydia Marano" <books@B...>
Date:  Sun Jan 25, 2004  5:02 pm
Subject:  4 -- count 'em! 4 -- more Blaylock titles

Babbage Press is most pleased to announce that we'll be publishing 4 more titles
by James P. Blaylock:

THE DISAPPEARING DWARF
THE ELFIN SHIP
THE STONE GIANT

-plus-

the first unedited U.S. edition of

THE LAND OF DREAMS

No release dates yet

---------------

Can't wait!  They are also reissuing Tim Power's On Stranger Tides and (finally) The Stress of Her Regard!

Good news for those who haven't been able to get copies.  Unfortunately, the last two that Babbage put out were trade paperbacks; I've been hoping for years that someone would do the Balumnia series in hardcover.  Looks like I'll have to keep waiting.

Yes, hardcover would be nice.  I was hopefully after Subterranean did The Man in the Moon (alternate version of the Elfin Ship), but now that they will be reprinted as trade paperbacks, we probably won't see hardcovers for a long time.

I wish they would also reprint The Magic Spectacles, in the revised version that was being published in Crank that was never completed. That would be most useful too! Dave

You can get "The Magic Spectacles" in hardcover.  I got my copy 4 or 5 years ago from amazon.uk.

It is true that it is available in hardcover, and I have a copy, but it is from a small printing 1000 copies or so, from a small press in UK. What it would be nice to have is to have it available in quantity and at a reasonable price here in US, in a new edition. Dave

Amusing... I mentioned Magic Spectacles to Lydia at Babbage and she thought it was a good idea.  I think she'll be asking about that one.

By the way, it was also published in serial form in CRANK!
