Have an extra $5K?

Let me preface this by saying that I realize that it's a bit silly to simply post sightings of Blaylock books for sale.  I also realize that at some message boards, posting such frivolous topics can be construed as spamming and is certainly frowned upon. However, since there are only a handful of new topics posted per month, the vast majority of them from just a few people, I figured that it wouldn't cause any problems. If for any reason, Chris, you would rather I not post things like this, please let me know.

Now, on to the sighting: http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=579007688&tab=1&searchur...

I frequently check ABE for Blaylock bargains, and stumbled across this set of three leatherbound authors editions for sale. The price? $4,600.00.  I'd say that any author whos works can fetch that sort of price for a mere three titles should feel pretty damned good about his accomplishments! Bravo, Mr. Blaylock!

No, I don't object - except to the outlandish price tag! However, they do rather resemble how I imagine a row of the works of G. Smithers of Brompton Village.

Good call! Unfortunately, that makes me want them even more. I did just pay off the last of my credit card debt ...hmmm...

EDIT: I clicked the link today to take another look at the fine red leather covers of the Smithers...er, Blaylock collection, and it's gone. I'd like to think that a die-hard Blaylock fan with means was able to get them, but I fear they've probably been snatched up by a wealthy collector who has no clue what he/she has purchased.

EDIT of EDIT: It's back as of 10/8/05. The interesting thing is that they've modified the description so that it no longer includes information claiming that they are authors editions given to Mr. Blaylock, and to Tim Powers (from Mr.  Blaylock). Something certainly seems to be afoot...
