A JPB feature film or HBO mini-series

What JPB novel would really work as a feature film or, let´s say, a HBO mini-series? If, in some fantasy-world,  producers, script writers, casting and director actually would give it a chance to be done right...

The Cheeser-books would be fab of course, as a big budget mini-series.

And his short stories, wow,  they could be a ”James P. Blaylock Theater” thing, with as many episodes as he has stories.

What do you all think?  Smiley

I would say "Night Relics". The novel has good character development, is interesting (on a movie level) to many kinds of audiences, would require not alot of expensive effects. HBO would not be a good venue for this,,, not enough sex and violence- it would make a good, wholesome Halloween movie on the Lifetime network, and I mean that in a GOOD WAY.

Jack Black starring "the Last Coin".
THAT is a movie which would never make any money in cinemas, but would live forever on DVD...

I would say that Blaylock is unfilmable. The gentle, quirky tone would be lost, I think, and while the story would remain intact (perhaps), narrative has never been the primary reason we read and love Blaylock, right?
MAYBE with just the right director...the Bill Forsyth of LOCAL HERO, for example...But I'm against it. Blaylock lives inside each of us and he's much safer there.

I always pictured the cheeser books as an animated series, like the old Hobbit cartoon.

They would need British accents I think.  "What ho, Dooley lad?"

I do 3D environment design, so I'm up for it... anyone else?

If anyone has some money to throw into a budget and Jim agrees, I'll make one.
