I hope this is not considered spam, but if it is, then please, by all means, delete it.

However, considering my history here on the forum: for instance, I am the one responsible for the Binky's Blend experiment, I would hope my credibility remains sound, and that I do not damage my reputation too severely.

Anyway, I'm in the process of writing a set of children's books.

It's called "The Adventures of the Salamander".  The books are based on a (very) short story I wrote when I was five years old.  Over the many years since I'd written it, it began to evolve (in my mind) into an epic tale. However, when I actually found the original story in my mom's attic about two years ago, I was confronted with the fact that it was much less involved than I remembered.

I want to revise and expand the story, to make it into the story I remembered it to be, at least a 10 volume set.  I want the Salamander to travel to the ends of the earth, to meet exciting and interesting characters, and overcome enormous odd, in order to eventually make his way back home and attempt to save his village.  If I am successful, it will be the first children's book which I will have both written and illustrated.

It's definitely inspired by the G. Smithers books mentioned in the Bulamnia trilogy, and Blaylock in general, and of course, my childhood interest in salamanders.  Axolotls will be making an appearence.

I'd love to hear what everyone thinks about the project...

I like it: ambitious (10 volumes?), starring a member of the most whimsical Class in the Animalia kingdom (Amphibia), with a nod to Mr. Blaylock at the outset.  Best of luck.

I've found a better publishing option, so the rewards are much better now...

The Adventures of the Salamander is finished, printed and available!

http://adventuresofthesalamander.com

Also on Amazon.com

It uses an innovative, Four-Tiered Approach.

1. Illustrations:  Everyone loves illustrations, even the youngest of children will be able to appreciate the book's many images.
2. Easy to Read Captions:  Intermediate readers will be able to enjoy the whole story by reading the books many captions.
3. Main Text:  Advanced readers can enjoy the full story, complete with all the details and dialogue you'd expect.
4. Footnotes, maps and several appendices: For those inclined to research, who want to learn more...

But that's not all!

"The Adventures of the Salamander" is an ongoing series of ten stories, printed in three separate books.  That sounds complicated, I know, so here's the breakdown:

Book I - or - Slippy and the Sequence of Spontaneous Setbacks
Volume 1: Escape From Salamander Village & The River Adventure
Volume 2: Sailing the Great Blue-Green Ocean
Volume 3: The Deepest Cavern
Volume 4: The Stark Mountains

Book II - or - Slippy and the Progression of Problematic Predicaments
Volume 5: The Fanciful Flying Machine
Volume 6: The Lunar Excursion
Volume 7: To the Ends of the Universe

Book III - or - Slippy and the Cascade of Curious Confrontations
Volume 8: The Traveller of Time
Volume 9: The Undersea Voyage
Volume 10: The Way Back Home

But wait, there's more!

The Adventures of the Salamander is a series of books for children of all ages, which chronicle the story of Slippy the Salamander.  Slippy's village has been over-run by mean-spirited lizards, who force the peaceful salamanders to bake for them.

Follow along on Slippy's journey, as he struggles to find help, return to his village, and save his fellow salamanders from lizard oppression.

Along the way, Slippy will also learn many important lessons, and uncover many amazing things about the world in which he lives.  Don't miss out on this epic adventure!
