Title: Upcoming Steampunk Convention in California
Post by Silver on 07. Oct 2008 at 18:26

There's to be a Steampunk Convention at the end of the month in Sunnyvale, California:

Steam Powered: The California Steampunk Convention 2008 will run October 31st 2008 through November 2nd 2008 at the Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale, California.

The weekend’s activities will include a Steampunk Ball, a Victorian fancy-dress ball; a costume competition; steampunk machinery workshops and demos; presentations and panels on both fictional and non-fiction works and applications; and a performance by Abney Park, a Steampunk band (this is one of my favorite bands!).

Appearances include Hieronymus “Jake” Von Slatt, proprietor of the Steampunk Workshop; Ann VanderMeer and Jeff VanderMeer, editors of the new anthology, “Steampunk”, and Chris Garcia, Assistant Curator at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. which is currently hosting a full-scale Babbage Engine.

Also, I've heard mention that Abney Park is holding a competition for a few tickets on a dirigible ride with them!

The convention is apparently selling out, so don't wait til too late!
