Title: 20th Anniversary Contest
Post by Forum Administrator on 19. Jul 2015 at 19:16

*** UPDATE ***

Because of the very low participation in the limerick contest, we've converted it to a book draw. It seems fans did not take to limericks as enthusiastically as we'd hoped! Thanks go out to those who did submit poems. You will automatically be entered into the draw, with bonus entries for your efforts!

To enter the draw, visit this page: http://www.sybertooth.com/blaylock/contest.cfm

It's probably going to be open ended, until we get enough entries. Tell your friends and fellow Blaylock fans!

I don't live in North America, but I've worked up a limerick, and I'd love to enter just for fun.
On the other hand, if the issue is shipping the prize, in the highly, highly unlikely event I were to win such a thing, I'd happily pay the shipping to Korea myself.

And I just had my 'duh' moment.
I do have an American mailing address, for certain purposes. I'll just use that, and for the purpose of The Mightly Blaylock Limerick Competition, I'll be in North America.
Problem solved, and in with the Limerick go I!

Note the change to the contest (mentioned at the top of the thread).

Aw, man! That's disappointing =( Such a great idea for a contest. I kept thinking of the beginnings of more after entering. How often do you get the excuse to write a themed limerick??!!

Maybe we should add a limerick page for whenever the mood strikes? It is a fun idea, after all.

By the way, do spread the word about the contest on social media, to give Beneath London more publicity!

Three of the winners also get extra congratulations for their limericks:

'Twas writ that the poet had wit --
That the squit could pick the last nit.
And so I believed
Every web that he weaved;
Now in lunar-orbed anguish I flit.
                       -Scott Lindeman

There once was a man called St. Ives
Who feared he had multiple wives;
A plot by Narbondo!
A quick rallentando,
Good riddance to all of the lies.
                       -Thomas Mueller

'Cryptozoologist': a great word,
Charmingly, delightfully absurd.
But Perkins is serious,
Devotedly curious,
And leaves Frosticos shaken, not stirred.
                       -Timothy Swan

I just want to relate that I received my book, signed as promised, but moreso, there was a very kind note from Mr. Blaylock folded up in the book. I thought that went above and beyond, being a personal note from someone who I am sure is quite busy enough without composing missives to fans who write iffy limericks. Thanks to Mr. Blaylock, and thanks to this Site for providing the forum and opportunity! Cheers!
